Here at Central Middle, we have recently started a new recycling program, just for markers! Our school signed up for a program through Crayola to send our old and dead markers back to their headquarters to be re-purposed. But instead of setting it up in just our room, we set it up in every room across the school.
We first found out about it through our Natural Expressions teacher, who heard about it through a friend. We then created 35 hand-made boxes out recycled cardboard, 7X3X3, the perfect size to store old markers. Once we were finished labeling each box, we delivered them to all the teachers’ classrooms, informing them what to do, and that we would pick it up every Friday with our regular recycling.
Even though we currently have not received any markers, as we just started the program, we hope that in the future this recycling program will thrive in our school.
