Groundswell is committed to helping schools engage their students in high-quality place-based education through environmental stewardship. We help develop lifelong stewards of our Great Lakes through innovative, experiential education.
Currently, Groundswell works with 36 schools, about 110 teachers, and more than 5,000 students in Kent and Ottawa counties. Teachers within each school receive extensive, sustained professional development, as well as the opportunity for funding to implement student-led, community-based stewardship projects. We work with schools throughout the Lower Grand River Watershed, including urban, suburban, and rural districts.
